Hôtel Sbai Palace, Zagora

A proposal to redevelop the reception of the Sbai Palace hotel in Zagora, at the gateway to the desert. The project asserts a majestic Saharan identity: sculptural arches inspired by the kasbahs, a backlit geometric coffered ceiling, mashrabiyas and authentic Berber rugs.

The monumental sculpted-wood reception desk becomes the centrepiece of the space, surrounded by waiting lounges with generous banquettes and a gallery of portraits that tell the culture of the Moroccan south.

Hotel decoration in southern Morocco

Renovating the reception of a hotel in Zagora, at the gateway to the Mhamid desert and the Chegaga dunes, means asserting a Saharan identity from the very threshold: sculptural arches inspired by the kasbahs of the Drâa valley, backlit geometric coffered ceilings, mashrabiyas, Berber rugs and a gallery of portraits of the Moroccan south. The monumental sculpted-wood desk gives the Sbai Palace hotel an entrance worthy of the great desert lodges.

Hotel renovation without prolonged closure
